The 20CC TXX-1 Spectron is a Eurorack format dual oscillator inspired by vintage analog multisampling instruments such as the Mellotron, Chamberlin, Optigan and others. Spectron uses a unique combination of synthesis and sampling techniques to bring the rich, dreamy sounds of these classic instruments into Eurorack for the first time - while also offering new possibilities to manipulate, warp, and mangle them into brand new textures.
More than just a simple sample player, Spectron's sounds are based on full-length recordings of every key, played on vintage instruments. These are then blended, re-pitched and cross-faded to seamlessly track any volt-per-octave CV and gate you can throw at it.
The module's right hand side offers a selection of timbre shaping controls not normally found on sample based intstruments, allowing you to apply FM, hard sync, and pulse width modulation. These are tuned to range from subtle modulations that recontextualize familiar sounds into something fresh; through radical transformations that are barely recognizable; and all the way to harsh, clangorous dementia, with continuous CV control of all points between. Each timbre CV section can individually be assigned to either voice, or to both.
Spectron also contains a built-in LFO and a built-in ASR envelope, allowing it to be used standalone as two complete synthesizer voices.
Spectron is currently still in development, with plans to ship a production version in late 2025 or early 2026. If you're interested in Spectron, sign up for email updates below. For all enquiries about Spectron or 20CC, please contact us here.
